Canada's casino hotels, room by room

Choosing a casino hotel is mostly about the night, not the slot count. So we follow your stay in order: the room you sleep in, the pool or spa you unwind in, how you get there and away, where you eat, what's on stage and, last, the gaming floor. Every figure comes from the hotel's own pages or a source we name, and each guide shows the date we last checked it.

Hilton Lac-Leamy & Casino du Lac-Leamy

no. 2 on points · Gatineau, Québec

Points put Fallsview first, and for a first-timer that is right. Ask us where we would spend our own long weekend, though, and the answer is Gatineau: a five-star room over two lakes, pools you can swim outdoors in January, a 17-room spa and Parliament Hill ten minutes away by car. It is the one stay on the list where you can forget the casino exists and still have a great trip — and remember it on Friday night, when the floor stays open until morning.

Where the points come from

Each hotel is marked out of 10 on six things, and each mark carries a share of 100 points: rooms 26, pool and spa 20, getting in and out 20, restaurants 17, the stage 9 and the gaming floor 8. Comfort and convenience weigh most because they shape a stay more than the size of the casino does. The full method, and what we refuse to do, is on how the points work.

Good to know before you pick a hotel

Which casino hotel scores highest on your points?

Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, with 91 of 100: falls-facing rooms, the 5,000-seat OLG Stage, more than 20 restaurants and one of the country's biggest gaming floors. Our editor's pick for a long weekend is Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau.

Which is the newest?

The Ottawa Hard Rock: 150 rooms, open since 3 July 2025. The one before it was Great Canadian Toronto, whose hotel welcomed guests from 1 August 2023.

What age gets me through a Canadian casino door?

Nineteen in New Brunswick, British Columbia and Ontario; eighteen in Québec, Manitoba and Alberta.

Can I take children to a casino hotel?

Usually, yes: the limit is enforced on the gaming floor (plus a few bars and show venues), not in the rooms. The exception is the Ottawa Hard Rock, where everyone must be 19+.
