The room to ask for

Beds are in a separate building next door, the 77-room Coast hotel (full name: Coast Langley City Hotel & Convention Centre), last refreshed in 2018. Options run from Coast King and Coast Two Queens to a corner Queen with a sofa bed, an accessible Queen with a roll-in shower, a Hospitality Suite with a wet bar and an Executive Suite with a balcony. Check-in 15:00, check-out 12:00.

Swim, steam, unwind

No pool, and the Coast hotel says so plainly. The fitness centre is open 24 hours.

Arriving and parking

Parking is free. By car: Abbotsford airport about 30 minutes, YVR about 60. Nearby day trips: Fort Langley, the Greater Vancouver Zoo. Pets need approval in advance and cost C$25 a night for one or C$40 for two.

Where to eat and drink

ATLAS steak + fish is Gateway's signature restaurant brand. live music and DJs play at Match Eatery & Public House, hotel guests take breakfast at The Breakfast Room, and a weekly Sunday brunch buffet is laid out in the convention ballroom from 11:00. Glacier Bar keeps 11:00–02:00 hours.

What's on stage

Nothing these days. The bingo hall took over the 420-seat Summit Theatre when it closed in 2018.

Downstairs: the gaming floor

Gateway opened the casino in May 2005. It never closes: more than a thousand slots across 80,000 sq ft, plus poker, bingo, roulette and blackjack.

Our take

A solid local casino with a decent small hotel attached. It doesn't compete with the resorts in our top ten, and doesn't try to.
