A five-star Hilton joined to a Loto-Québec casino on the edge of two lakes, ten minutes' drive from downtown Ottawa. Heated indoor and outdoor pools open all year, a 17-room Amerispa, a 1,100-seat theatre and a casino with 1,400+ slots make it the most complete wellness-plus-casino stay in the country.
Best for: A spa-and-casino escape, or a Gatineau base for sightseeing in Ottawa.

A resort, not just a casino with beds
The Casino du Lac-Leamy opened in 1996; the Hilton, the theatre and the conference centre followed in 2001. Together they make the Hôtel-Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau — five stars from Québec's CITQ since 2001 and a CAA/AAA Four Diamond rating since 2002. Loto-Québec runs the casino; the hotel is a Hilton.
Rooms
Tourisme Outaouais counts 349 rooms; Bonjour Québec splits them as 312 rooms and 37 suites. Classic rooms have two queen beds; Deluxe rooms have a king and a dressing table by the entrance. The top three floors are executive levels with their own elevator and service. Suites come as Junior, Murphy and One-bedroom. Every room has bathrobes and slippers, a 47-inch TV, a mini fridge, Crabtree & Evelyn products and a safe, and the hotel describes views over Lac Leamy and Lac de la Carrière.
Check-in is at 4 pm, check-out at 11 am. In-room dining runs daily from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm.
Pools and spa — the best on this list
This is the property's strongest card. The pools and hot tubs, indoor and outdoor, are heated and open year-round. Amerispa has 17 treatment rooms; its two-hour Serenity package is listed at $252 Monday to Thursday and $308 Friday to Sunday, and spa access includes the pools, whirlpools, steam bath and sauna. The fitness centre is free and open 24/7.
The casino
More than 1,400 slot machines, 48 tables, electronic terminals, a poker lounge and a Mise-o-jeu sportsbook. Hours are 9 am to 5 am Monday to Thursday and around the clock Friday to Sunday. Québec's age is 18, and anyone who looks under 25 may be asked for government photo ID.
Shows and nightlife
The Théâtre du Casino seats 1,100 in theatre style or 770 cabaret-style, and is 18+ except for special events. Bar 7 has live bands and DJs every Friday and Saturday from 7 pm and Latin Thursdays; Bacchus is the quiet one, with scotch by the fireplace and a cigar room; Aléa is the nightclub, 11 pm to 3 am with a dress code.
Dining
Arôme, the seafood-and-grill room overlooking Lac de la Carrière, is the signature restaurant, with a three-course Experience menu and a Sunday brunch. Banco Bistro is the budget-friendly choice for rotisserie, pizza and steak; L'Instant does Montréal smoked meat, pasta and a smoked-meat poutine. The poolside TGV snack bar is closed until next summer.
Getting there
Downtown Ottawa is about ten minutes by car — the ByWard Market is 4.1 km away, Parliament 6.4 km, the Rideau Canal skateway 7.3 km. The airport is about 25 minutes. The STO Rapibus stops at Lac-Leamy station. Outdoor parking is free; valet is suspended until further notice. EV chargers are on site, and pets are accepted for a $50 fee (34 kg maximum).
Our verdict
The most relaxing casino hotel in Canada and the most useful one for an Ottawa trip. Book a spa package midweek — the price gap with the weekend is real — and save the casino for a Friday, when it stays open all night.
