Calgary (Tsuut'ina Nation), Alberta · casino age 18+
Grey Eagle Resort & Casino review
Updated · facts checked
Owned and run by the Tsuut'ina Nation on Calgary's south-west edge, Grey Eagle opened its 178-room hotel in 2014. Some rooms look west to the Rockies, the 2,500-seat Event Centre books strong acts, and Little Chief is one of the better casino restaurants in the West. The pool is closed during a renovation that runs into 2027.
Best for: Concert nights in Calgary and a base for Kananaskis and Banff.
Skip if: A pool is essential this year — it's closed during renovations.
Calgary's casino resort
Grey Eagle is owned and operated by the Tsuut'ina Nation. The casino opened in 2007 and the six-storey, 178-room hotel celebrated its grand opening on May 2, 2014. It is minutes from downtown Calgary and about 30 minutes from Kananaskis Country — a combination no other casino hotel on this list offers.
Rooms
The resort says some rooms face west, where on a clear day you can see the Rockies; the rest face the city. Choose from Standard King, Premier King and Standard Two Queen — which the hotel pitches to families — or the King Suite and Presidential Suite. The hotel describes its rooms and suites as newly renovated.
The casino
84,000 square feet with more than 975 slots and 32 tables. Slots run 24 hours; tables from 10 am to 3 am. High-limit rooms cover blackjack, baccarat and more. Alberta's age is 18. The casino says renovation work will continue in phases through 2026–2027. Loyalty is Winner's Edge, Alberta's province-wide programme.
Event Centre
The 2,500-seat Event Centre is open to all ages, upgraded to an L-Acoustics sound system in 2024 and named Venue/Presenter of the Year at the 2024 YYC Music Awards. The Concert Night Getaway package bundles two tickets with an overnight stay for $329–$369.
Dining
Little Chief mixes modern cooking with Indigenous tradition and has been featured by the Calgary Herald and Avenue Magazine. The Buffet (18+) runs nightly features until December 31, 2026, then closes in January 2027 for renovation. Blaze Bar & Grill, the Eagle Bar on the gaming floor, the Stage Bar with free weekend shows, and the Eagle Street Eats food truck — Indian tacos, chili and bannock, Saskatoon berry dumplings — fill in the rest.
Pool and fitness
The pool is closed because of the casino renovation; hotel guests get complimentary access to the City of Calgary's Killarney and Glenmore pools instead. The outdoor hot tub, sauna and 24-hour fitness centre are open.
Beyond the casino
Grey Eagle Cultural Tours offer experiences on Tsuut'ina Nation, including the Tsuut'ina Museum and a Buffalo Paddock Tour. Calgary International Airport is 30–45 minutes away, Banff about an hour. Parking is free, and pets can stay on a designated pet floor.
Our verdict
The best casino hotel for a Calgary or Rockies trip and a great concert base. Just pack for the hot tub, not the pool, until the renovation is done.
